Have you started to get interested in homeopathy? Are you now wondering what is the best homeopathic book for beginners? Well I have a few suggestions for you! These suggestions are tried and true in my home and in the home of many of my clients as well. I often find myself still referring to them in my home, even after 4 years of homeopathic college.
Books to Get You Started
The best homeopathic book for beginners, hands down is Miranda Castro’s book The Complete Homeopathy Handbook.
Why do I say it is hands down the best? I say that because she takes you step by step and teaches HOW to take an acute homeopathy case. Miranda teaches you all you need to know on how to find the best homeopathic remedy for your situation. She goes over what you can safely treat and what you cannot, the necessary foundations, what is health, the law of cure, the minimum dose, lifestyle factors, aggravations, anti-doting, practice cases, and SO much more!
If you really want to be successful at home prescribing, get her book and READ it! The best way to approach her book when reading is to read parts 1&3 first, and then go back and read and study part 2.
Here is a link to her handy printable repertory chart that can be used with her book as well.
Another book I always recommend to go alongside The Complete Homeopathy Handbook is Homeopathy An A to Z Home Handbook by Alan V. Schmukler. This is another best homeopathic book for beginners.
This book is so helpful when you are in a pinch and need to pick a remedy quickly. Think of using it in situations like middle of the night, where you really are not able to analyze the whole case. It is also great when you are trying to decide between 2 remedies and need another description from another author for a different point of view.
It is jam packed with useful information. Information on smallpox, chemotherapy, prophylaxis, making remedies, poisonings, organ remedies and so much more!
Many people often ask me , “If you could just pick one, which would you pick?” Honestly, I couldn’t just pick one. I feel like they both have their unique uses that are essential for treating your family successfully with homeopathy.
What Else Will You Need?
Along with the best homeopathic book for beginners, you will want to have a good homeopathy kit on hand as well. There is nothing worse than finally figuring out the best remedy to give and not having it, and then realizing none of the local stores have it in stock either. So get a kit!
These two books, if you learn to use them well and READ them, along with your kit, will get you handling most acute situations yourself. Treating chronic health conditions with homeopathy is much more complex and requires in depth consultation and analysis.
Practice makes perfect with acute prescribing. Keep at it and you will get better and better. Just think, one day you will look back and see all those instances you were able to save yourself and your loved ones from “another prescription medication”. Saving both money and health in the long run.
Happy prescribing!
