Treating acne homeopathically requires good skin hygiene and acne lifestyle recommendations geared toward healing acne. Are you struggling with acne and a bit disappointed on your efforts to clear acne with homeopathy? The success rate of clearing acne with homeopathy tends to be lower if the following acne lifestyle recommendations are not adhered to. It’s similar to trying to reverse Type 2 Diabetes without changing the diet and lifestyle that contributed to the diabetes in the first place. These are necessary changes and success is higher in the individuals who implement them. So let’s explore what’s necessary for clear skin.
Dietary and Lifestyle Changes Necessary for Treating Acne
Follow a whole food diet, limiting processed foods and ingredients, with the below additions:
Eliminate dairy products, they contribute to the formation of pus and mucus in the body and they tend to be pro-inflammatory.
Eliminate Biotin, also known as B7, check all supplements. This vitamin is known to aggravate and exacerbate acne skin., leading to more breakouts. Though this information has not been proven when put to the test scientifically, only in theory, many years of personal testimony from users seems to say otherwise. So it is best to avoid.
Add Beta carotene (provitamin A) rich foods to the diet. Beta carotene is the precursor to vitamin A and adequate vitamin A levels in the body is known to reduce the incidence of acne breakouts and lessen the severity. Some Beta carotene rich foods:
Carrots
Carrot Juice
Pumpkin
Sweet Potato
Winter Squash
Spinach
Collard Greens
Kale
Turnip Greens
Dandelion Greens
Cantaloupe
Mango
Apricots
Add Zinc rich foods to the diet:
Lamb
Grass Fed Beef
Pumpkin Seeds
Chickpeas
Cashews
A note on Zinc: it has strong skin healing properties, but bioavailability from food sources is low, even in Zinc rich foods. It is recommended to supplement a few times per week with either Zinc picolinate or Zinc glycinate, 15mg at bedtime, on an empty stomach. Do not use it in multis, combinations, or with other supplements. Regular HTMA hair analysis testing is recommended for long term use (6+ months) as Zinc can eventually deplete other minerals. (Please book in for a consultation for HTMA testing.)
Add a good quality Omega 3 Fatty Acid supplement daily, Cod Liver Oil is a good choice for acne since it is high in Vitamin A. Omega 3 fatty acids are associated with a reduction is severity of acne in individuals with moderate to severe acne.
Wash morning and night, and always use the double cleanse method with a cleanser that is non-drying, non-stripping, and does not leave a residue. The double cleanse method is a method of cleansing twice. Cleanse the whole face, massaging thoroughly, with your selected good quality cleanser, rinse, cleanse again, rinse, and pat dry with a clean towel.
Check all skin care and hair care products for comedogenicity.
Wash pillowcases and bedding regularly and do not go to bed with hair care products in your hair.

Look at incorporating liver supportive Mother Tincture Herbs and Homeopathics. The liver is a major detox organ that often needs support in this day and age. An issue with liver function can show up as eruptions on the skin.
Are your bowels regular? Are you suffering from symptoms of gut inflammation? Suffering from constipation can cause the body to reabsorb toxins and waste from the bowels. Keeping the bowels moving regularly is essential. If you are suffering from gut inflammation this can mean that your absorption of essential nutrients is compromised thus leading to unhealthy skin and a lowered ability for the skin to heal and recover. Take a look at my article on Gut Healing and the Bowel Nosodes to understand more about the gut and Homeopathy.
